I’ve laid a good foundation for Eleven Wonders – Odartey Lamptey

Head coach Nii Odartey Lamptey says he leaves Eleven Wonders with his head held high, insisting he has laid a solid foundation for the team despite their struggles in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.

The Techiman-based side have endured a difficult start to the campaign, sitting 17th on the table with just two points after seven matches.

Their latest 3-2 defeat to Nations FC proved to be the final straw for the former Ghana international.

Speaking to Asempa FM, Lamptey clarified that his resignation was a personal decision and not one forced by the club.

“A lot of people called me from Kumasi saying I’d been sacked. I wasn’t sacked. I submitted my resignation letter to the club’s leadership,” he said.

“I’ve already made my name. This job can’t add to or take anything away from the name I’ve made. I’m just helping them out.

“Now, I think the foundation of the team has been laid, you can see it when they play. It’s just the way Ghana football is, but I hope things change.”

Eleven Wonders are expected to announce a new head coach in the coming days as they look to turn their season around.

They face second-placed Aduana FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in their next encounter.
